Route story
Start among Lecce’s Baroque facades, cross the inland towns of Galatina and Grecìa Salentina, then reach the Adriatic at Otranto before riding the coast north.
The outbound leg links Galatina, Soleto, Corigliano d’Otranto and Maglie. From Otranto the signature return follows the SP366 coastal corridor through Alimini and Torre dell’Orso before cutting inland through fortified Acaya and back to Lecce.
Navigation format
Use the named roads as the reference line. The final coastal-to-inland return remains the main field-check item before the production GPX.

Road line v0.1
The main provincial and state-road corridors are defined. The final Torre dell’Orso → Acaya → Lecce approach remains a field-validation item before the production GPX is released.

Suggested rhythm
The loop is designed to leave time for the places, not just the kilometres. Stop durations remain flexible.
Practical stops
Historic centres are treated as walking stops. Follow current signs and use signed parking on the outer approaches.
Start — leave Lecce and ride south toward the first cultural stop.
Parking
Start outside the historic-centre ZTL and use signed public parking on the outer centre approaches.
ZTL
Lecce historic centre is controlled by ZTL access. Electronic gates and live signage are authoritative.
Food
Good breakfast start: coffee and pasticciotto before departure.
See
The city is an architectural start rather than a panorama stop.
Local tip
Do the city walk before or after the ride, not by trying to thread the motorcycle through the historic core.
Galatina — Basilica di Santa Caterina d’Alessandria, historic streets and a natural first break.
Parking
Use signed parking outside the compact historic core and walk to the basilica.
ZTL
Treat the central lanes as pedestrian/limited-access territory unless current signs clearly permit entry.
Food
A natural place for a second coffee or pastry stop.
See
The value here is cultural: frescoes, stone streets and the basilica interior.
Local tip
Keep this stop concise if Otranto is planned as the main lunch or long visit.
Soleto — a compact Grecìa Salentina stop before the route turns east.
Parking
A brief outer-centre stop is enough; the town is compact.
ZTL
Avoid unnecessary navigation into the narrow central lanes.
See
The Guglia di Raimondello is the visual landmark.
Local tip
This is a 10–20 minute texture stop, not a long break.
Corigliano d’Otranto — castle, stone streets and one of the strongest inland cultural stops.
Parking
Park around the centre perimeter and approach Castello de’ Monti on foot.
ZTL
Use current signs as the rule; avoid routing through narrow old-town streets.
Food
Good backup stop for coffee or a light snack.
See
Castello de’ Monti and its square are the key visual stop.
Local tip
The castle makes this more than a transit village; allow 20–30 minutes if the day is not rushed.
Maglie — transition point before the run to the Adriatic.
Parking
No long stop is required unless you want a break before the Adriatic leg.
Local tip
Think of Maglie as a practical hinge in the route rather than the main destination.
Otranto — main coastal stop with the old town, cathedral, castle and harbour.
Parking
Park outside the old town and waterfront pedestrian core. In high season arrive before the busiest midday period when possible.
ZTL
The historic centre and waterfront approaches have traffic restrictions; do not trust a sat-nav shortcut through access-controlled streets.
Food
Best candidate for the main lunch stop, especially outside peak August congestion.
See
Harbour, castle walls and sea-facing old town provide the strongest coastal urban views.
Local tip
This should be the longest stop of the loop: 45–90 minutes depending on season and trip style.
Torre dell’Orso — sea-view pause on the northbound SP366 return.
Parking
Use signed public parking and avoid beach-front congestion in summer.
See
Sea cliffs and the Due Sorelle coastline are the reason for the stop.
Local tip
In July–August make this an early or late stop; middle-of-day beach traffic can dominate the experience.
Acaya — fortified Renaissance village before the final short run to Lecce.
Parking
Stop outside the walled village and walk in.
ZTL
The historic core is tiny; keep the motorcycle outside unless signage clearly permits passage.
See
The fortified plan, gate and castle give the last architectural payoff of the day.
Local tip
This is the ideal final 20-minute stop before closing the loop.
Fuel strategy
Leave Lecce with a comfortable range for the full loop. Maglie is the easiest backup refuel point before Otranto and the coastal return.
ZTL rule
Lecce, Galatina and Otranto all require attention around historic-centre access. Park outside the old cores and follow live gates and signs.
Season
Spring and early autumn are ideal. In July–August ride early and expect heavy beach traffic around Roca, Torre dell’Orso and San Foca.

Ride clockwise: inland culture first, Adriatic second.
Give Otranto the longest stop of the day.
Keep Soleto and Maglie intentionally short.
Avoid the SP366 at peak beach-changeover hours in summer.
There is no planned off-road section; any standard road bike is suitable.
Optional variants
Variant 01
Fast return: Otranto → Lecce on SS16 when time is limited.
Variant 02
Slow-road Maglie → Otranto via Giurdignano remains outside the main GPX until fully field-tested.
Route Pack v1
The GPX and digital roadbook will be released after the complete loop has been road-tested and documented.
