Route story
Start from Brindisi’s Roman-port heritage and follow the Via Appia corridor inland through Mesagne, Oria and Francavilla Fontana.
The second half climbs into Ceglie Messapica and Ostuni before returning to Brindisi, creating a compact cultural portrait of the province.
Navigation format
Use the named roads as the reference line. The Ostuni–Brindisi return and exact parking/ZTL anchors remain the main field-validation items.

Suggested rhythm
The loop is designed to leave time for the places, not just the kilometres. Stop durations remain flexible.
Practical stops
Historic centres are treated as walking stops. Follow current signs and use signed parking on the outer approaches.
Start — Brindisi harbour and Roman heritage.
Parking
Use signed public parking on the outer-centre / waterfront approaches rather than routing into restricted central streets.
ZTL
Brindisi has central pedestrian and restricted-access areas. Follow live signage and local access rules.
Food
Good place for breakfast before departure or seafood at the end of the loop.
See
The harbour and Roman-column area give the route its Adriatic starting context.
Local tip
This route works particularly well for ferry travellers who want a first full day entirely inside the province.
Mesagne — castle and Messapian/medieval centre.
Parking
Park outside the historic centre and walk toward the castle and old streets.
ZTL
Treat the historic core as limited-access unless current signage says otherwise.
Food
Coffee and pastry work well here; keep the longer food stop for Oria, Ceglie or Ostuni.
See
The castle and historic centre are the key cultural payoff.
Local tip
Mesagne is close enough to Brindisi to make a relaxed first stop without breaking the rhythm.
Oria — hill town, castle and cathedral.
Parking
Leave the motorcycle below the tight upper historic centre and walk uphill.
ZTL
Avoid navigation shortcuts into the castle-side historic streets.
Food
A good coffee or early lunch option if you want Ceglie later as a shorter stop.
See
The hill position and castle skyline make Oria the strongest elevated cultural stop.
Local tip
Allow 30–45 minutes; the walking climb is part of the stop.
Francavilla Fontana — Castello Imperiali and Baroque centre.
Parking
Use signed central parking outside the densest historic streets.
ZTL
Check current access restrictions around the centre before following sat-nav into narrow streets.
Food
Useful practical stop, but keep it shorter if Ceglie is planned for lunch.
See
Castello Imperiali is the key architectural landmark.
Local tip
Use Francavilla as the hinge between the western historic towns and the hillier eastern half of the loop.
Ceglie Messapica — historic and gastronomic stop.
Parking
Park outside the old core before the ZTL gates and use signed public parking.
ZTL
Historic-centre access is controlled; live gate displays and signs take priority.
Food
Best lunch candidate of the route for traditional inland cuisine.
See
Castle and old-town edges provide a compact panorama over the surrounding countryside.
Local tip
Give Ceglie enough time to eat properly rather than treating it as a photo stop.
Ostuni — White City and olive-plain panorama.
Parking
Use public parking on the outer approaches and walk into Rione Terra.
ZTL
The historic centre has controlled access. Electronic gates and live signs are authoritative.
Food
Good final coffee or aperitivo stop before the return to Brindisi.
See
The old-town escarpment opens toward the monumental olive plain and Adriatic.
Local tip
If the day is running long, shorten the visit rather than riding into the centre looking for parking.
Fuel strategy
Start full in Brindisi. Ceglie Messapica and Ostuni offer practical backup options before the return to the coast.
ZTL rule
The historic cores of Mesagne, Oria, Francavilla Fontana, Ceglie and Ostuni are best treated as walk-in stops. Follow live access signs.
Season
Spring and early autumn offer the best balance. In midsummer, start early and expect more pressure around Ostuni and the Adriatic approaches.
